of Supplies & Equipment for Teaching
Survival Equipment, Procedures and Onboard Drills Courses

This is a list of teaching supplies and equipment for instructors teaching AMSEA’s USCG-accepted 10-hour or 18-hour drill conductor classes. Classroom session and drill aboard a vessel are included in both 10-hour or 18-hour drill conductor classes. Firefighting practice, pool session and flare demonstration are add-ons for 18-hour courses.

  • EPIRB (nonworking demonstrator)
  • SOLAS A Kit liferaft equipment pack
  • Inflatable wearable PFDs (one USCG approved, one non-approved)
  • Appropriately sized immersion suit for each student (use students’ own suits if available)

  • Mayday scenarios
  • Plastic Bags (Grocery store type; two for each immersion suit)
  • Zipper Wax (contact AMSEA with questions about this)

  • Fire extinguisher(s) – CO2
