AMSEA is conducting a five and a half-day U. S. Coast Guard-accepted Marine Safety Instructor Training (MSIT) in New Bedford, Massachusetts starting on June 1 and concluding on June 5. The MSIT provides practical, hands-on experience in marine survival equipment usage and procedures.
This class is an intensive, train-the-trainer program. It is recommended for anyone who wants to provide required Emergency Drill Conductor training for commercial fishermen, or others who need the skills to respond quickly and effectively to an emergency. It prepares participants to become U.S. Coast Guard-accepted Marine Safety Instructors and is taught by experienced mariners. This class will cover:

- How to Conduct Effective Drills
- Cold-Water Survival Skills
- Man-Overboard Recovery Firefighting
- Life Rafts
- Abandon-Ship Procedures
- Helicopter-Rescue
- Flares, MAYDAYs, and Other Emergency Signals
- Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs)
- Flooding Control
- Conducting Safety Orientations
- Cross-Cultural Communication
