AMSEA is offering a Women's 10-Hour Fishing Vessel Drill Conductor workshop in Homer, Alaska. This course is taught by and for women and meets the US Coast Guard training requirements for drill conductors on documented commercial fishing vessels operating beyond the federal boundary line.


Instructor Anna Borland-Ivy will cover these topics:


  • EPIRBs, Flares, and MAYDAYs

  • Man Overboard Recovery

  • Firefighting

  • Immersion Suits and PFDs

  • Emergency Drills

  • Helicopter Rescue

  • Life Rafts

  • Abandon Ship Procedures

  • Cold-Water Survival Skills

  • In-the-Water Practice Session


This course is free to commercial fishermen thanks to support form the U.S. Coast Guard, DCCED, and NIOSH.
