AMSEA is offering a five-day Outdoor Survival Camp for youngsters, grades 6 through 8. Based on AMSEA's K-12 curriculum, Surviving Outdoor Adventures, the camp will teach children age-appropriate skills needed to prevent and survive outdoor emergencies. Instructors Emma Edson and DeVynarae Meeder will cover:

  • Shelter Building

  • Wild Edibles

  • Weather

  • Vessel Safety Orientation

  • PFDs & Immersion Suits

  • Vessel Flooding & Damage Control

  • Man Overboard

  • In -The-Water Practice With Immersion Suits (Harbor Swim)

 

We are excited to again bring a youth camp to Sitka in 2018. AMSEA has extensive experience teaching cold-water survival skills to children at schools throughout Alaska. AMSEA's Surviving Outdoor Adventures curriculum teaches skills to children through fun games and activities.
