USCG Releases Completed Voluntary Safety Initiatives and Good Marine Practices for Comm. Fishing

Jeff Pearson

Back in November we discussed the U.S. Coast Guard's Voluntary Safety Initiatives and Good Marine Practices for Commercial Fishing Vessels program. That's their replacement for the Alternate Safety Compliance Program (ASCP) required by the Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2010 and the Marine Transportation Act of 2012.

The final version of the Coast Guards recommended standards came out in January. Click here to read about it in the Coast Guard's Maritime Commons blog and download the final standards by clicking here. If you need a brief refresher on why the Coast Guard needed to replace the ASCP, you can read about that here.
