We’re excited to be heading back to Seattle for Pacific Marine Expo 2025. This event is a highlight of our year, connecting with partners from across the coast. You can find us November 20 to 22 at the Lumen Field Event Center, Booth #4314 right across from the Main Stage in the Alaska Room. Stop by our booth to learn about upcoming training opportunities, and talk about all things safety at sea.
This year, AMSEA Executive Director Leann Cyr, PhD, will moderate a Main Stage panel: Preventing Stability Related Vessel Disasters. The discussion takes place on Thursday, November 20, from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. (PST). It will dive into one of the most critical safety issues in commercial fishing, vessel stability. Leann will be joined by experts from the U.S. Coast Guard and Hockema Group, along with AMSEA’s Jerry Dzugan. They will talk about what causes vessel instability and how fishermen can recognize and manage those risks before they turn into emergencies. The session will explore practical ways to improve safety through smart load planning, gear placement, and more. Learn more about the panel https://www.pacificmarineexpo.com/session/preventing-stability-related-vessel-disasters/.
AMSEA will also host a series of hands-on Fishing Vessel Stability Workshops in the National Fisherman Arena, sponsored by the Port of Seattle. Led by Jerry Dzugan, these sessions let participants experiment with model boats in a water tank to see how loading, balance, and movement affect stability. It’s a hands-on way to understand key principles like center of gravity, roll period, and free surface effect. The workshops will run from November 20 through November 22 and are already completely full. Learn more about the workshop https://www.pacificmarineexpo.com/amsea-stability-workshop/.
Whether you are joining us for the panel or attending one of the workshops, be sure to swing by the AMSEA booth.
