Mariners who use NOAA bar reports and bar camera pages should be aware of a potential service disruption beginning July 1, 2026.
Information presented at a recent Grays Harbor Safety Committee meeting indicated that required hardware upgrades and IT security changes may result in the closure of the webpages that currently host local bar reports and camera feeds. These resources provide important information on bar conditions and are widely used by commercial fishermen, recreational boaters, charter operators, and other mariners to make safe operating decisions.
At this time, NOAA and the U.S. Coast Guard are evaluating possible alternatives, but no replacement system has been confirmed. Bar conditions will continue to be available by phone through local Coast Guard stations.
NOAA is asking users of these webpages to share feedback on how often they use the service and how important it is to their operations. Mariners are encouraged to email w-pqr.webmaster@noaa.gov with comments.

If you rely on these reports or camera feeds, now is the time to make your voice heard. User feedback may help demonstrate the importance of maintaining public access to this information as agencies evaluate future options.
Please help spread the word throughout the maritime community.
